My name is Mick and I discovered and bought the lake in 2002.
It looked splendid even in its very overgrown state, very picturesque with a variety of different species of trees. The water covers five acres and the whole area is completely fenced with secure locking gates.
During the year 2003, a great deal of time and effort was spent getting both the land and water into tip-top condition.
The quality of the existing stock of carp far exceeded my wildest expectations. While there did not seem to be many, they had grown big. To compliment the already well-sized fish of the original stock, one and half tons of mirrors and commons were introduced to 40lb+ along with a few small catfish. All this new competition for food has produced excellent catch returns. |

2003 saw the fishery transformed into a venue with flat swims, some double, and all around a peninsula that enables the whole main body of water to be covered. Some trees and bushes were removed or trimmed to allow ease of casting. There are interesting stalking areas to the right of the peninsula both in front and behind of an island where the toilet is situated. There are features such as overhanging branches, bars and gullies and plateaus. This lake has it all!
You can drive your vehicle round to the swims. If you wish you can bring a motor home or caravan. Etang La Maîtresse (the mistress) is situated at the end of a track so it is very quiet with no passing traffic. Although it is in a small pretty rural village, you are surrounded by meadows. At the beginning of the track is a self-service shop (very little French needed) where you can get everything you would need. Shower facilities are available free-of-charge at our nearby B&B.
All this and just three and half-hours drive south from Calais! What more could you want from a carp fishing holiday in France?
